Justin Bieber declares himself a Missy Franklin fan, still has no time for Stratford swimmer Wilkinson

The King-maker himself, Justin Bieber, anointed a new person with his fandom as he reserved a tweet for 17 year old American swimmer Missy Franklin who captured the gold in the 100m backstroke on Monday.

Sources close to the situation can confirm that Missy Franklin did not actually die upon receiving that tweet, and she was simply just turning a phrase.

Now the real story here is Bieber tweeting congrats and well wishes to a swimmer. You may have heard something to this effect earlier in the games, only with more of a hometown feel. Canadian swimmer Julia Wilkinson tried to get some twitter love from the singer on day one of the games to no avail.

One has to wonder where we are as a society if being from the same hometown as someone carries no weight anymore.

If you happen to get a tweet from someone who is from your hometown, reply to them. Its one thing to play favourites but hometown RTs are the nice thing to do.

Canadians should feel free to tweet Wilkinson their well wishes ahead of her 100m Freestyle heat tomorrow. Youre all way cooler than Justin Bieber anyways.

No, seriously. You are.
