Pop sensation Justin Bieber performed a special show for competition winners today during a promotional visit to New Zealand.

The Canadian singer performed to around 200 fans, including All Blacks Ali Williams and Anthony Boric, at the Cloud on Auckland's Waterfront this afternoon.

Security had braced itself for a stampede of Beliebers eager to meet the star, although secrecy surrounding the visit meant only around 80 gathered at the venue gates.

Earlier today, Bieber and his girlfriend, Disney star Selena Gomez, visited sick children at Auckland's Starship Hospital.

Bieber has been an advocate for the Starship Foundation, calling on fans to donate money in the launch of his Believe Charity Drive in November last year.

He tweeted the hospital visit was "one of the best parts of the day".

He is expected to bungy jump from the Auckland Harbour Bridge tomorrow, which he also did last time he visited two years ago.

Bieber's arrival in the country overnight was in stark contrast to when the Canadian singer arrived to mass hysteria at Auckland Airport two years ago, leaving some of the 500 fans reduced to tears as he was whisked away. A fan also stole his baseball hat at the airport during his 2010 visit and held it ransom.

The multi-platinum selling star is the most viewed YouTube artist of all time, with 2.7 billion views. He has over 25 million Twitter followers and 43 million Facebook followers.

Bieber first broke on to the music scene in 2008 with his first album, My World, and his debut single, One Time.

He is in New Zealand promoting his latest album, Believe, and is due to fly out tomo! rrow.
