Bieber named top Canadian newsmaker

Justin Bieber has been voted the Canadian Newsmaker of the Year.

The Boyfriend singer - who is frequently in the headlines for his chart-topping music, passionate fans and romance with former Wizards Of Waverly Place star Selena Gomez - beat a host of other big names in his native Canada to take the number one spot for 2012, according to the Ottawa Citizen.

The survey results, revealed by Ipsos Reid for Postmedia News and Global Televsion, showed that the teen pop sensation gained 17 per cent of the vote, edging out Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who had 15 per cent.

Justin seems to have plenty to be happy about in his personal life too, as it looks as if he and Selena are definitely back on following reports of a rocky patch.

A photo on E! News shows the pair looking cosy at an airport in Utah, with the actress sitting on Justin's lap and snuggling up to him.
