Justin Bieber
has added at least six tattoos to his body in 2012. His latest addition? Three black roses and some deep red highlights to his existing leg tattoo. This new work, which he showed off this weekend on Instagram, comes on the heels of the Biebs' recent owl, crown, and Japanese symbol.

This time around, Bieber had roses and shading inked around his existing praying hands tattoo, which he had done in March 2012. The hands are placed next to another tattoo of Jesus' head. Perhaps now the two religious pieces are better linked together, but it's hard to tell in the Instagram image.

Clearly, this wasn't Bieber's first tattoo and it probably won't be his last. However, his choices of ink have definitely gotten bigger and more ornate since his first trip to the tattoo parlor.

March 2010: The Biebs first got inked at the Son of a Gun tattoo parlor right around his 16th birthday. He went with his dad, Jeremy, and got a small outline of a bird on his left hip. Apparently the bird is part of a Bieber family tradition. Both his dad and uncle sport the same tat.

April 2011: Bieber made another trip to the tattoo parlor with his dad while touring in Israel. That time, both guys got inked with "Yeshua" in Hebrew, which means "Jesus." Justin's tattoo is written vertically on his left ribcage, so you can't see it unless he's shirtless. It's unclear if the singer's dad got tattooed in the same spot.

May 2011: Biebs flaunted more body art shortly after returning from his world tour. This time, he sported the outline of a star on his left elbow. The first pictures of the tattoo were taken in Texas over Memorial Day weekend, but a few weeks later the black outline had disappeared! Turns out the elbow art was just a temporary Henna drawing.

The Biebs' Jesus ink (FameFlynet) January 2012: Looks like the Biebs is into big, bold ink these days. While at the beach early in the year, Bieber revealed a large tattoo of Jesus wearing a crown of thorns on his left calf. This is the singer's first tat that's visible outside of the beach, even though it's easily covered up by pants.

June 2012: Just before the Biebs' Believe album dropped over the summer, he got a block letter tattoo of the title on the inside of his left arm. He was then lectured about tattoos by talk show host David Letterman. But that clearly hasn't stopped the star from adding to his ink collection.

July 2012: It's unclear when the Biebs added a tiny tattoo to the inside of his right arm, but he showed off a small Japanese symbol on the red carpet over the summer. The symbol means "music."
