A teenage Justin Bieber fan has stepped up his campaign to convince the singer go to his prom with him as his wingman.

Leon Purvis made a YouTube video of himself asking the teenage singer to be his "bro" last year, but has now renewed his efforts to convince Bieber to accompany him and have a "blast" at the event this June.

Purvis told Digital Spy that he never expected Bieber to reply to his original video invitation, because "he is a busy guy". However, the student said that he believes Bieber wants him to "show him how much [he] really want[s] this to happen" and will respond once he proves himself.

He also claimed that the campaign is not just for his sake, but will give Bieber the opportunity to "take a break from his celebrity life", saying: "Justin Bieber won't ever have a normal prom, so why not attend prom with me? I am fun to be around."

Purvis said that if Bieber did accept his invitation, they would "just chill together" and have some "dance battles".

The teenager said that he has received "a good rep" from friends for his campaign, adding: "If Justin does go, it would most likely leave a statement with my friends and peers that anything is possible. Never say never."

Since making the initial video, Purvis has been interviewed by his local paper, appeared on NBC Philadelphia and been discussed by stars such as Perez Hilton and ! Ryan Seacrest.

He has now set up a Facebook event in the hope that Bieber might respond.

Bieber received another prom invitation from a female fan last July, in the form of a rap song.

Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis both attended military balls last winter, after they received online invites from two corporals.
