Justin Bieber's perfume hits NZ

Justin Bieber fans swarmed to buy the singer's Someday perfume when it hit stores overseas, and it's likely the same will happen when the scent comes to our shores on April 4.

It brought in over US$3 mi! llion (N Z$3.6 million) in the first three weeks of its sales, topping the previous record set by Beyonc's Heat perfume in February 2010.

The scent has had its fair share of publicity - both good and bad.

Alarm bells went off when images of the bottle's design first aired in early 2011. The design was uncannily similar to Marc Jacob's Lola perfume, and while it had Jacobs fans in an outrage, the fashion designer decided not to sue.

Bieber's perfume is a charitable affair, with the net profits going to the singer's favourite causes.

"Someday is the idea that we can change the world, make our dreams come true, and even be with the one person that means everything" Bieber said in a press release.

"Giving back has always been incredibly important to me, but let's be honest...I wanted to create a fragrance for my female fans that I can't get enough of...that I want to get next to and I can't stay away from.

"I know they'll love the scent, but also the opportunity to support some amazing charities. It's a gift that gives back."

The perfume has top notes of Mandarin, William Pear and Wild Berries, mid notes of Jasmine, Water Lily, Creamy Florals and Coconut Orchid, and dry notes of Sandalwood, Vanilla and Soft Musk.

Prices start at $66 for 30ml, and will be stocked at Farmers from Wednesday April 4.
