Justin Bieber's 'Boyfriend' video breaks YouTube record with 8 million views

Teen pop sensation Justin Bieber has broken another YouTube record - his newest single "Boyfriend" accumulated over 8 million views in its first 24 hours online.

The 18-year-old Canadian singer, who released the music video on April 3, Tweeted on Saturday, "Over 8 MILLION VIEWS in 1 DAY! Most Views ever in 24 HOURS! grateful."

In the music video, which had 9.8 million views at press time, Bieber is shown racing hot cars, getting cozy with a model who vaguely resembles his real-life girlfriend Selena Gomez and dancing on a roof top.

The "Boyfriend" single was released through The Island Def Jam Music Group on March 26 and is currently No. 3 on iTunes top music downloads list. The video was helmed by the mysterious Director X and Bieber told MTV that he wanted the video to be a bit more matu! re than his previous endeavors.

"My fans are all growing with me, so I think that it was time to do something a little more mature but also something my fans would love," Bieber told MTV's Sway, after the video's premiere.

Bieber took to his official Twitter page on April 27 to reveal to his loyal fans the standard and deluxe edition album covers for his upcoming album, "Believe."

The album is set to be released on June 19. Bieber can be seen in identical poses on each cover, with the black and white photo used for the standard cover and the color photo for the deluxe version. It is Bieber's third studio album.

The YouTube record is not Bieber's first. In November 2011, Bieber broke a different YouTube record, becoming the first person to have his videos viewed 2 billion times on his official channel.

Bieber also holds the world record for the most popular video on YouTube with his breakout 2010 single "Baby," which has been viewed more than 733 million times since it was posted in February of that year.
